What biostimulators are
Biostimulators are injectable treatments designed to stimulate your skin's own collagen production rather than add volume directly. The most common options — Sculptra and Radiesse — use biocompatible materials that gradually dissolve, triggering the body to generate new collagen in their place. What remains is your own tissue, rebuilt.
How they work
When a biostimulator is introduced into the dermis, it creates a controlled localised response. Fibroblasts migrate to the area and begin producing fresh collagen over the weeks that follow. Results emerge slowly, typically becoming visible over three to six months, and they continue to develop after that. Because the process mirrors natural regeneration, outcomes tend to look and feel proportionate.
What to expect
Most biostimulator protocols involve two to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Some mild swelling or redness may occur in the days immediately following treatment. The results arrive gradually, which is part of what makes them so wearable. When change happens slowly, it rarely announces itself.
Who it suits
Biostimulators are well suited to people experiencing gradual loss of skin density or firmness. They work across a range of areas including the face, neck, décolletage, and hands. A practitioner at a Vos clinic will assess whether biostimulators are the right approach for your skin, or whether a different protocol would serve you better.
Maintaining your results
Results from biostimulators can last two years or more, depending on the product and the individual. Supporting your skin with SPF, appropriate retinoids, and hydration between sessions helps extend the longevity of outcomes. Your practitioner may suggest a single maintenance session once results reach their peak.
