Overview
Redness and visible vessels that have been present for years tend to feel like a fixed part of how you look. Vbeam is a pulsed dye laser that targets these vessels precisely, with the skin surface left intact and minimal recovery time.
What's going on beneath the skin
Redness, flushing, and visible vessels are vascular in origin. The capillaries near the skin surface have become chronically dilated or damaged, and they do not resolve without targeted treatment. The challenge is destroying the unwanted vessel without harming the surrounding skin.
Vbeam achieves this through selective photothermolysis. It emits light at a wavelength specifically absorbed by oxyhaemoglobin in blood vessels. The absorbed energy heats the vessel wall until it collapses, while the surrounding tissue is largely unaffected. A built-in cooling device protects the skin surface during each pulse, which improves comfort and reduces the risk of bruising. As the body clears the treated vessels over the following weeks, redness and visible capillaries diminish.
Daily & Ongoing Care
At-home care:
- SPF 30 or higher daily. UV exposure worsens vascular concerns and undermines results over time.
- Avoid heat, saunas, strenuous exercise, and hot showers for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment
- Do not apply makeup over treated areas for the first 24 hours
- If bruising occurs, arnica gel can help speed resolution
Before treatment:
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 4 weeks before treatment
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 1 week before to reduce bruising, if cleared by your doctor
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and skincare products

What to expect
During treatment
A built-in cooling device sprays a mist on the skin milliseconds before each laser pulse, protecting the surface and improving comfort. The handpiece is passed over the treatment area in precise pulses. Most patients feel a snapping or mild stinging sensation. Sessions run 20 to 45 minutes.
After treatment
Most patients experience mild redness and warmth that resolves within a few hours. Worth knowing: bruising (purpura) can occur, particularly when treating more prominent visible vessels. It typically resolves within 7 to 14 days and is a sign the laser has found its target. Most patients return to normal activities immediately.
Results timeline
Vascular lesions fade progressively over 2 to 4 weeks after each session as the body reabsorbs treated vessels. Multiple sessions are typically required for full clearance of rosacea and diffuse redness. Results for discrete vessels can be long-lasting, though new vessels can develop with ongoing sun exposure.
