Overview

StarWalker is a multi-application laser platform for pigmentation, sun damage, melasma, and tattoo removal. It uses ultra-short pulses to shatter pigment particles more efficiently, with minimal thermal damage to surrounding tissue and very little downtime.

What's going on beneath the skin

Pigmentation issues vary in how deeply they sit in the skin and how resistant they are to treatment. Sun spots tend to respond quickly. Melasma, driven by hormones and chronic UV exposure, requires a more careful, sustained approach. Tattoo ink sits in the deepest layers of all and requires many sessions to clear.

StarWalker addresses all of these through ultra-short laser pulses delivered in both Q-switched and picosecond modes. At that speed, the energy shatters pigment particles and ink fragments into pieces small enough for the body's immune system to clear naturally. Because the pulses are so brief, heat dispersal into surrounding tissue is minimised, reducing the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation that can occur with slower laser systems. The platform's dual-mode capability allows targeting of a broader range of pigment colours and ink types than single-mode systems.

Daily & Ongoing Care

At-home care:

  • SPF 30 or higher daily. UV exposure is the primary cause of the pigmentation this treatment addresses and will slow your results.
  • Do not pick at darkened spots after treatment. Let them fade on their own.
  • Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids for at least 1 week post-treatment
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 1 to 2 weeks after each session

Before treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 4 weeks before treatment
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin and no active tan
  • If treating melasma, discuss realistic expectations with your provider. Melasma is a chronic condition that can recur with sun and hormonal exposure.

What to expect

During treatment

No numbing cream is typically required for pigmentation treatments. Numbing may be applied for tattoo removal depending on the area and session. Protective eyewear is fitted and the handpiece is passed over the treatment area. Most patients feel a snapping or stinging sensation. Sessions run 20 to 45 minutes.

After treatment

Mild redness and slight swelling resolve within a few hours for most patients. Treated pigment spots may temporarily darken in the days following treatment before fading. This is a normal part of the clearing process. Most patients return to normal activities immediately.

Results timeline

Pigmentation fades progressively over several weeks between sessions as the body clears fragmented particles. Tattoo removal requires multiple sessions with results varying based on ink colour, depth, and age of the tattoo. Cumulative improvement is visible with each session.
