PRP Hair Restoration
Your own growth factors, concentrated and returned to the scalp.
MAY 22 2026
What It Is
PRP Hair Restoration uses platelet-rich plasma derived from the patient's own blood to stimulate follicular activity at the scalp. Platelets contain a high concentration of growth factors that, when delivered directly to the follicle, can reactivate dormant hair cycles and slow the progression of thinning. Because the treatment uses your own biology, there is no risk of allergic reaction or foreign body response.
How It Works
A small volume of blood is drawn and centrifuged to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich fraction. The resulting plasma is then injected at multiple points across the treatment area using fine needles. The growth factors within the PRP bind to receptors at the follicle level, stimulating cell proliferation and prolonging the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle. Results develop gradually as follicles respond over several months.
What to Expect
Sessions take 30 to 45 minutes. A topical anesthetic is applied prior to injection to minimise discomfort. Mild scalp tenderness and occasional swelling may occur in the 24 to 48 hours following treatment, but there is no meaningful downtime. An initial course of three to four sessions, spaced four weeks apart, is typical; maintenance treatments are recommended every six to twelve months to sustain results.
Good Candidates
PRP Hair Restoration is most effective for patients in the earlier stages of hair loss, where follicles are still present and responsive. It is commonly used for androgenic alopecia, postpartum hair loss, and diffuse thinning across the scalp. Patients with advanced follicle loss or scarring alopecia are not typically good candidates, and a consultation will help determine whether PRP is appropriate for your pattern of loss.

It Depends
Can be valuable - but results, value, or fit are more dependent on the patient, concern, or treatment plan.
