miraDry

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by sweating that exceeds what the body requires for temperature regulation. For most patients, the underarms are the primary area affected. miraDry is a Health Canada- and FDA-approved device that delivers precisely controlled microwave energy to eliminate sweat and odour glands in the treatment zone.

miraDry uses microwave energy to target the glands responsible for sweat and odour at the dermal-fat interface. The energy is absorbed by the glands, which are then naturally cleared by the body over time. Because sweat glands do not regenerate, the reduction is long-lasting. A local anesthetic is applied prior to treatment to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.

Each session takes approximately one hour. Most patients require one to two treatments to achieve their desired outcome, with some requesting a third for additional refinement. Swelling and tenderness in the treatment area are common and typically resolve within a week. You can return to daily activity within a few days.

Patients typically notice a significant reduction in sweating and odour following treatment. Results continue to improve over the weeks that follow as the body clears the treated glands.
