Microneedling
Repair that begins beneath the surface.
APR 20 2026
Overview
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin using fine needles to stimulate the body's natural wound-healing response and collagen production. It is effective for acne scarring, fine lines, skin texture, and enlarged pores, and is often combined with topical serums or platelet-rich plasma to enhance outcomes.
What's going on beneath the skin
Your skin's ability to produce collagen and elastin naturally declines with age. Sun damage, acne, and environmental stressors accelerate this process. The visible result is scarring, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and fine lines.
Microneedling prompts the skin to repair itself. Fine, sterile needles create thousands of tiny, controlled punctures in the skin's surface. These are far too small to cause lasting damage, but significant enough to activate the skin's wound-healing response. This triggers collagen and elastin production that rebuilds and remodels the skin from within over the weeks and months that follow. The micro-channels created also allow supporting serums applied during treatment to penetrate more deeply.
Daily & Ongoing Care
At-home care:
- SPF 30 or higher daily. UV exposure during healing increases pigmentation risk.
- Hyaluronic acid serum to hydrate and support barrier recovery
- Gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and lightweight moisturiser
- Reintroduce Vitamin C gradually from day 4 to 7 once sensitivity settles
- Retinoids and peptides can be resumed after 1 week
Before treatment:
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids 5 to 7 days before treatment
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning in the week before
- Arrive with clean, product-free skin
After treatment:
- No makeup for the first 24 to 48 hours
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot showers for 48 hours post-treatment
- Do not pick at any peeling or flaking. Let the skin shed naturally.

What to expect
During treatment
A topical numbing cream is applied 20 to 30 minutes before treatment. A precision device passes over the skin, creating thousands of controlled micro-injuries at a calibrated depth. Sessions run 45 to 60 minutes. Most patients describe mild pressure and warmth. Supporting serums are applied immediately after while channels are open.
After treatment
Expect redness and mild sensitivity similar to a moderate sunburn for 24 to 72 hours. Light flaking or peeling may follow on days 3 to 5. Most patients return to normal activities within 1 to 3 days. Avoid makeup for the first 24 to 48 hours and hold all active skincare ingredients for at least 3 to 5 days.
Results timeline
A brightness and glow often appears within 1 to 2 weeks as fresh skin cells surface. Texture and pore improvements become noticeable at 2 to 4 weeks. The most significant collagen remodelling builds between 6 and 12 weeks, with continued improvement up to 6 months.
